Phone requirements

The technician uses the Inspekio app on a phone, in the field and often without signal. Answers, photos and videos stay saved on the device until the connection comes back. That is why the phone’s memory and free space matter more than its camera.

  • Android: version 7.0 or newer.
  • iPhone: iOS 15 or newer.
  • Free space: 2 GB.

A phone at the minimum installs the app and runs the work order. With many work orders and photos saved offline, it gets slow and takes longer to send when the connection comes back.

For a technician who does several work orders a day, takes many photos and spends hours without signal:

Item Recommended
Memory (RAM) 4 GB or more
Storage 64 GB, with at least 5 GB free
System Android 11 or newer, or iPhone 8 or newer (iOS 16)
Processor 64-bit
Internet SIM card with a data plan

On the phone’s spec sheet, in the store or on the maker’s website:

  • 4 GB of RAM or more. Phones with 2 GB or 3 GB work, but get slow with many photos saved on the device.
  • No “Android Go”. Some entry-level phones ship with Android Go (Go edition). This Android version is made for phones with little memory and closes apps more often. Inspekio is slower on it.
  • 64 GB of storage or more. Photos and videos not yet sent take space on the device.
  • A SIM card with a data plan in the technician’s phone lets photos upload during the day, without waiting for Wi-Fi.
  • In the app, turn on Sync over mobile data. With this option off, photos wait for Wi-Fi. See Work without internet and sync later.
  • Let the phone allow Inspekio to run in the background. See Sync with the app closed.
  • Close the other open apps.
  • Free up space: delete gallery photos and videos you no longer need. Do not delete Inspekio or its data while items are still unsent: the page Work without internet and sync later shows how to check the sync queue first.
  • Connect to a network and wait for the sync queue to reach zero. With fewer items saved, the device runs lighter.
