Sync with the app closed
You do not need to keep the app open for your work to reach the server. With the app closed, it sends what is left in the sync queue on its own. For that, the phone must let Inspekio run in the background. Some phones do not, and then nothing goes up until you open the app again.
What the app sends on its own
Section titled “What the app sends on its own”With the app closed, it sends the answers, photos and videos left in the sync queue:
- About once an hour. At that time it also downloads new work orders and changes, and gets your work orders ready to open without internet.
- When the internet comes back. If you saved something without internet, or left the app with items in the queue, the upload happens soon after the connection comes back.
- When a work order is assigned to you. A notification arrives, and the app downloads the work order and gets it ready to open without internet. If the notification does not arrive, the work order downloads on the next hourly run.
On iPhone, iOS picks the time of each upload, and it can take longer. If the phone does not let Inspekio run in the background, none of this happens: everything goes up when you open the app.
Photos and videos wait for Wi-Fi when Sync over mobile data is off. This applies with the app closed too. Answers go up on any connection. The option is under Profile > Offline configuration.
Android: let the app run in the background
Section titled “Android: let the app run in the background”There are two things: battery optimization, which every Android has, and an autostart screen, which some manufacturers add. Menu names change with the model and the Android version. If you cannot find the exact name, look for the closest one, or use the search in Settings.
Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco
Section titled “Xiaomi, Redmi and Poco”- Open Settings > Apps > Manage apps.
- Tap Inspekio.
- Turn on Autostart.
- Tap Battery saver and choose No restrictions.
On some models, Autostart is in the Security app, under Apps or Permissions.
All devices: battery optimization
Section titled “All devices: battery optimization”- Open Settings > Apps > Inspekio.
- Tap Battery.
- Choose Unrestricted.
On older Android versions, the path is Settings > Battery > Battery optimization. Show all apps, tap Inspekio and choose Don’t optimize.
Samsung
Section titled “Samsung”- Open Settings > Battery. On some models, Battery is inside Device care.
- Tap Background usage limits.
- If Inspekio is in Sleeping apps or Deep sleeping apps, remove it from there.
- Add Inspekio to Never sleeping apps.
Huawei
Section titled “Huawei”- Open Settings > Battery > App launch.
- Tap Inspekio and turn off Manage automatically.
- In the window that opens, turn on Auto-launch, Secondary launch and Run in background.
- Open Settings > Apps > App management > Inspekio.
- Tap Battery usage.
- Turn on Allow background activity and Allow auto launch.
- Open Settings > Battery > Background power consumption management.
- Tap Inspekio and allow high background power consumption.
- Under Settings > Apps, look for Autostart and turn Inspekio on.
Closing from the recent apps screen
Section titled “Closing from the recent apps screen”On some devices, swiping Inspekio off the recent apps screen closes the app completely. Then nothing runs until you open it again. For uploads to happen on their own, leave the app with the home button, without closing it.
iPhone: Background App Refresh
Section titled “iPhone: Background App Refresh”The iPhone only sends with the app closed if Background App Refresh is on:
- Open Settings > General > Background App Refresh.
- Check that the option at the top is on.
- Check that Inspekio is on in the list.
With Low Power Mode on, the iPhone turns off background refresh for every app.
iOS picks the time to run Inspekio in the background, based on how you use the phone. Sometimes it takes minutes, sometimes hours, and it often happens while the phone is idle or charging.
If you closed the app by swiping it up
Section titled “If you closed the app by swiping it up”Leaving the app with the home gesture, or switching apps, does not get in the way. Closing the app is different: if you swiped Inspekio up in the app switcher, iOS does not wake it any more. Nothing is sent or downloaded until you open the app again.
The assigned work order notification still arrives. When you tap it, the app opens and syncs.
Check what has not gone up yet
Section titled “Check what has not gone up yet”- Open the app and look at the work order list.
- If X items waiting for sync appears, something is still on the device. Tap the notice to open the Sync queue.
- The queue shows how many items are pending and lists each one by work order.
With the internet on, opening the app starts the upload. If the queue shows Waiting for Wi-Fi, the photos and videos wait for Wi-Fi. To send over mobile data, tap Configure and turn on Sync over mobile data.
Anyone in the administrative panel sees in the work order the answers and photos that already arrived, without touching the technician’s phone.
If only one phone on the team is slow to send with the app closed, check the manufacturer and the battery and autostart screens above first. The same app can run on its own on a device with no changes and sit still on a Xiaomi with Autostart off.
